Deal of Kelvedon was founded in 1914 when Cyril J.Deal found a local garage unhelpful in making a few minor adjustments to the clutch on his car. Convinced he could provide a more helpful and committed service, Cyril built the foundations for his business next to Kelvedon train station. Selling second-hand motorbikes, he soon had custom in the AA and Essex County Council and began to build a strong clientele base. Cyril founded Cyril J.Deal Ltd. in 1919.

The 1959 fire disaster

In 1959 disaster struck. A fire gutted the premises causing over £20,000 of damage. But Cyril and his family, now all working as a strong team,  refused to be defeated and within six months and much hard work the three-acre site had been rebuilt next to Kelvedon Train Station.

We have never looked back since. Now run and directed by Cyril's grandsons - Robert Deal and Peter Hine - Deal of Kelvedon continues to serve the community as a trusted, caring family business - supporting the community whenever possible.

The re-built garage

The company success shines through when you consider that virtually all Deal of Kelvedon staff (from sales to aftersales) have been employed since the completion of their apprenticeships; and we consider them all to be a vital part of the Deal family organisation. Each qualified technician has use of their own vehicle lift plus exclusive use of up-to-date specialist tools and diagnostic equipment.
